Optimal Health

Optimal Health

Optimal Health means to live life with robust vitality, free of troubling symptoms and chronic disease. It can be defined as “being your best with what you’ve been given and being the best in this very moment.” Most of us think of optimal health as having to do with our physical bodies: proper nutrition, getting the right amount of sleep and exercise, reducing stress,  etc. But optimal health actually incorporates a much broader spectrum. In fact, there are five key areas to keep in balance in order to achieve optimal health: physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual. When these are in balance, we thrive as individuals and in community,  and perform as our highest potential.

Unfortunately, most people don’t live at that level.  Instead, people settle to live with nagging symptoms notserious enough to label as illness or a problem. But, even a lack of symptoms does not mean you are truly well.  Many diseases remain silent, taking years to progress to the point of causing symptoms at an astounding 40% of function.  This is why heart disease is called the “silent killer”.

It doesn’t seem to make much sense to wait for symptoms or chronic disease to develop — not when there is so much you can do to avoid or minimize these outcomes.  Being proactive and doing something NOW can move you toward optimal health.  Our goal at Health For Heroes is to help you move from whatever level you are currently experiencing to a higher level of health, happiness, and performance.
